Hi Dr. Peterson, are there any books you would recommend for young children, to help lay the ground work for living a emotionally and psychologically healthy life?
I am starting to talk to my children about facing your problems and learning to overcome them and would love to have a few good books to help reinforce these ideas. They are still very young, but my oldest is 4 and is very capable of comprehending these messages and I don’t want to miss out on a chance to get them started in life on the right foot.
Conversley if there are any books you recommend for a young parent to read to improve their knowledge and skills that would be more than welcome as well.
Thank you for your work, you are a doing a genuinely invaluable service by sharing your knowledge and you have had a profound impact on my life in the few short months I’ve known about you.
Epinephrine is the drug of choice in the treatment of anaphylaxis and should be administered immediately upon diagnosis. Fatality rates are highest in cases where epinephrine administration is delayed. 26 Adult patients should receive to mL epinephrine 1:1,000 ( to mg) IM repeated two to three times at an interval of every 5 to 15 minutes, as up to 20% of patients requiring epinephrine for anaphylaxis require a second dose. 2 , 30 Intramuscular administration in the lateral thigh (vastus lateralis muscle) is the recommended site of delivery. If there is no response and the patient is developing signs of shock or cardiovascular collapse, then to mL of epinephrine 1:10,000 ( mg) IV every 10 to 20 minutes can be given. If IV access cannot be obtained, then epinephrine may be administered by the endotracheal tube. Continuous IV epinephrine infusions have also been used, but its titration should be done in an intensive care unit (ICU) setting.
